In myofascial balancing a standing palpation assessment is done to determine any postural patterns that may be contributing to chronic pain or associated with recent injury. Gentle techniques are then used on the fascial tissues surrounding muscles, bones, and joints to create changes in these patterns. This technique can be performed with clients fully clothed.
In a Therapeutic massage I combine myofascial balancing, deep tissue, lymphatic facilitation, and joint decompression to reduce the pain and inflammation associated with acute injury, while increasing strength and range of motion. I also always include some Swedish massage to encourage relaxation and reduce the mental and emotional stress associated with injury.
During a Wellness massage I combine both Swedish and deep tissue techniques to relieve the effects of general stress and muscle tension throughout the body.
Lymphatic Facilitation is a gentle technique used to encourage the body's natural process of removing excess lymph throughout the body and returning it to the bloodstream. This technique is extremely beneficial in reducing swelling and inflammation due to tissue trauma associated with prolonged exertion, acute injury and surgery. Please note that Lymphatic Facilitation is an abbreviated version of Manual Lymphatic Drainage and is beneficial for traumatic edema only. It is not appropriate for clients with circulatory edema associated with congestive heart failure, kidney disease, hypertension, etc.., or lymphedema due to congenital or genetic defects, lymph node damage or removal.
Organ specific fascial technique to improve mobility and motility.
